 [The Original Unofficial NASH BRIDGES]

* "ROAD WORK"
January 3, 1997

Episode 21       Airdate: 1/3/97      Writer: Pam Veasey     Director: Greg Beeman
Guest Stars: Angela Dohrmann, Stephen Berra, Louis Mandylor, Hannah Cox, Larry Joshua, Jack Shearer, Dale Raoul, David Wells.

Joe: You may not realize it, but JJ is actually a very decent, upstanding young man. God played a trick on me and put him in a slacker's body.
Nash: ....All right, look. I'm going to be honest with ya. You know I love JJ, I always loved that kid. But Cassidy, you know Cassidy - she's tough. She'll eat JJ up and spit him out. I'm not going to do that to him - or to you. I'm serious, man....

A high speed car chase between the 'Cuda and another car is underway on a road 250 miles out from San Francisco. Nash and Joe are helping Holly Bloom escape Ray Getz's hired killers. Holly is scheduled to testify against the mobster Getz the next day, and Getz is pulling out all stops to get Holly. The 'Cuda triumphs with the other car crashing and burning, but the 'Cuda radiator is pierced in the exchange of gunfire. Nash, Joe and Holly manage to hitch a ride in a hearst, with Joe riding in the back next to a dead body. They manage to reach a small town with a garage to fix the 'Cuda.

Meanwhile, Lisa and Cassidy are moving into a new apartment. Cassidy's regular boyfriend has backed out of their dance date, leaving Cassidy high and dry. In desperation, Cassidy uses JJ, Joe's son, as a fill-in. Cassidy dresses JJ and invents a cover story for JJ for him to appear more impressive to her peers.

Two more killers locate Nash, Joe and Holly staying overnight at a bed and breakfast. The killers place an electronic bug on the fixed 'Cuda, but are chased away by Nash and Joe. The bug is discovered by Nash, and they trap the two killers on an underpass. The two killers turn out to be corrupt US Marshals. Nash and Joe leave them handcuffed. Another pair of Marshals arrive, with one killing an innocent clean Marshal. The trio of bad Marshals continue on to San Francisco.

Nash figures out that there is a high level leak in the prosecutor's office and warns his sister Stacy the Assistant District Attorney. After escaping 2 SFPD squad cars, Nash, Joe and Holly hide out in Lisa's new apartment. Holly desperately wants to meet her boyfriend Doug. Against his wishes, Nash arranges a meeting for Holly and Doug at a museum. The presiding judge of the mobster Ray Getz's case informs Getz of the museum meeting. The trio of Marshals are now reduced to two, with Getz having fired/killed one Marshal for failing to kill Holly. Three hitmen show up at the museum but are stopped by Nash and Joe. Nash brings Holly into court for her appearance, but not before arresting the corrupt judge.

Appearing at her dance, Cassidy discovers her boyfriend's date has canceled, so she dumps JJ and goes off with her old boyfriend. Feeling guilty, Cassidy apologizes to JJ. Nash returns Holly home to re-unite with her young daughter.
